Why does conversion sometimes take 30 seconds?

LibreOffice starts a headless process for each conversion which has startup overhead especially on cold start.

Are formulas converted or formula results?

Formula results (the displayed values) are converted. Formula syntax is not shown.

Does it preserve charts?
